Blue Train Cafe Art Gallery Presents Mary Batsakis' Second Showing -
The Reptilia Series

A Unique Collection in a Unique Environment.

The Blue Train Cafe has a history of encouraging aspiring and established artists to display their art. For a period of three months, from mid November 2007 until mid January 2008 they will be displaying a dozen of Mary Batsakis's paintings. It is located in the beautiful Southbank precinct at the following address:

Mary will be displaying contemporary acrylic paintings on canvas, a combination of abstract and figurative, including Tranquil Views and Reptilia. She'll also be at the cafe on some nights to meet with you and answer questions about technique and her painting career.

Mary has been tucked away working on commissioned paintings lately and wanted to present a captivating and distinctive exhibition with a difference - and voila "The Reptilia Series".

Blue Train Café opens early for breakfast and trades all day until very late with emphasis on high quality meals at low prices. Hot rock pizzas, pasta and assorted basic meals, full bar service, lounge area with alternating art displays, and reading material for the solo diner. Visit the website for a menu.

Blue Train Café is the ever popular, ambient haven for all people - young or old - without pretensions or boundaries our policy has always remained single minded. Blue Train is the definitive "peoples cafe". They don't take bookings, so you can just drop in as they're a very casual and relaxed cafe. There's a comfy and funky lounge area and bar where you can enjoy a drink and view Mary's paintings and artwork

Art exhibition to hit Melbourne

The Collective Melbourne Art Gallery
Presents Mary Batsakis' Premier Showing

An exhibition of artworks featuring over 20 local artists will come to St. Kilda this August and the Collective Melbourne Art Gallery will host its' first art exhibition. It will feature works from almost two-dozen artists and Melbourne artists say the local art community is keen to see the display. I think this is going to be a great chance for our local artists and the public to come along and see these local artists' works The Collective Melbourne Art Gallery is also the location of a benchmark event.... the premier public exhibition of the new Abstract Paintings of emerging Australian artist Mary Batsakis.

The show will consist of over 20 artists presenting several of their favourite works to the public in a competition called The People's Choice Awards. It starts on the 5th of August through the 5th of September. Some of the exhibitors are new artists, some experienced and some in-between.

Mary Batsakis will be displaying contemporary acrylic paintings on canvas, a combination of abstract and figurative, including Tranquil Views and Reptilia. She'll also be at the gallery some nights to meet with you and answer questions about technique and her painting career.

The winner will be decided by public opinion and voting closes September 5th. So when you go to the gallery you'll vote for what you feel is the best painting, of course, as a fan of Mary's work, I know you'll cast your vote for her.

There's plenty to do and see there because Collective is a Homeware Gallery that displays affordable art, a sculpture garden, unique home and garden wares, handmade jewellery and designer bags. There's also a cafe with a special type of ambiance where you don't feel rushed and can enjoy sipping your coffee or eating a light meal. All the art that is on display is also available for purchase including works from the exhibition - no work is over $3000. Collective is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am - 5pm

On the 7th of September the winner will be announced, with that person being rewarded with an exhibition held at the Collective Melbourne later in the year to the value of $5000.
